SATIE SOC STUFF

You may not have heard of Erik Satie. Not many have. But he wrote one of the most beautiful and most frequently played pieces of music of the 20th century, Gymnopèdie No.1, which is still being used in films and adverts by the score.

SCORE!  Get it?    Sorry.

His (often tongue-in-cheek) music philosophy has had a profound influence on many artists of our times, not least Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, John Cage, and Philip Glass, but only a small handful of loyal followers, scattered in disparate niches across the globe, are aware of this cult composer.

It is the aim of the Satie Society: Second Chapter to bring together all of Satie’s fans to one website, (this one!), whilst making Satie’s gorgeous music and remarkable legacy accessible to the everyman.

So how about it? Are you ready for something completely different? Join us on an adventure into the eccentric world of Satie….. Please feel free to explore the site, or click here to find out MORE ABOUT ERIK!
